Here is a video of the walk we took on the old dry lake bed leading out to the water of The Great Salt Lake in Utah.
The lake is shrinking and seems that the part we had to walk on to get to the water had been dry for quite some time.

C’mon, you know you missed us 😉
After 29 days, 7,989 miles, 16 states and a whole lot of amazing memories, we are home. It was kind of strange waking up in a house without wheels this morning but we are excited to visit with family and deliver the goodies we brought back from all of the wonderful places we visited.
It took us an hour to clear everything out of Lady T this afternoon and then most of the day to sort it all out. Lady T got a thorough cleaning and will visit a mechanic for transmission service and the other minor issues she had on the road. She will be ready for the next adventure in no time!
Jay & I would like to thank everyone who followed us this past month and we hope you enjoyed sharing in our experiences. Travelling cross country has been life changing for us both and we are already planning our next multi-state trip in 2015!
We hope to go camping a couple of weekends this summer and will continue to update the blog with any news about Lady T. Until then, we leave you with a quote:
“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”― Ernest Hemingway

We left Seville around 9 AM this morning and made our way towards Sara’s Campground and Presque Isle, PA. Jazz & I were looking forward to parking Lady T and relaxing a bit on beautiful Lake Erie before heading home.
The campground is nestled in the heart of Presque Isle and is adjacent to the state park. The property is split in half with a sandy beachside and a bay side with concrete lots. We had originally planned on the former but after reviewing the sites, we decided we would be more level on the bay side
After hooking up the rig and showering, we took a walk towards the beach. On the way, we stopped at Sara’s Diner for some fries and onion rings. The diner is decked out in retro 50’s style décor and was packed! Out front, there is also a somewhat disturbing hot dog statue that we couldn’t take our eyes off of. Take a look at the picture and see if you agree 😉
We also stopped at a small gift shop called Beach Zero. The owner was very nice and talked to us for a while about beach glass and luck stones, both of which are very popular in the area. Beach glass is actual glass that has been tumbled around in the water and washes up on shore. Clear glass is the most common color but she mentioned that blue, red and green glass can also wash up.
Luck stones are actually ear bones from the Freshwater Drum (Sheepshead Fish) and can be found on the shores of the great lakes. The stones have been used for many years as good luck charms by sailors and are marked with either a J or L shape, which is supposed to stand for joy and luck.
From the gift shop, we took a stroll in the state park and then walked over to the beach to see if we could find some beach glass of our own. After some digging, we found several small pieces of clear beach glass and a nugget of green. We then headed back to Lady T for a short nap before dinner.
After a tasty dinner, we walked over to the campground beach and waited for the spectacular sunset we had read so much about. While walking, Jasmine spotted a luck stone! Excited, we cleaned off the sand and confirmed the marking that the store owner had mentioned. Not three feet from where Jazz found the first stone she looked down and found another one…WOW!!
The horizon was pretty cloudy but the sunset was beautiful anyway. Afterwards, we stopped at Sara’s diner again and I got hot fudge sundae to enjoy while I started a small campfire before bedtime.
Our trip is almost over but keep checking the blog or FB as we will be adding videos and more photos after we get home.

Our first stop for today was the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, racing capital of the world and home of the Indy 500. When we arrived, we were lucky enough to see a couple of race cars run a few practice laps. What the fast!? We then visited the dual gift shops inside the museum building.
From the speedway, we drove downtown and after circling a few times found a nice spot on the street just around the corner from the highway. Each street is named after a state and coincidentally, we ended up on Mass Ave 🙂 It was hot but we walked around for a bit and then had lunch. I had a delicious Firehouse Meatball sub and Jasmine got Japanese stir fry at Noodles & Company. Indianapolis must be a very hungry city because every other business was a restaurant!
Back on the highway, we continued to head and East on I70 towards our destination for tomorrow, Sarah’s Campground in Presque Isle on the beautiful Lake Erie. After crossing into Ohio, we realized that we needed some supplies so we set the GPS for the nearest Walmart. Just after entering the store, a wicked storm came through and dropped the temp about 20 degrees, which Lady T appreciated. We drove another 45 minutes before reaching what will probably be our last Flying J on this trip in Seville, OH.
Tomorrow, we plan on leaving early so we have enough time to hook up and relax at the campground before exploring. According to what we’ve read, the sunsets on Lake Erie are supposed to be some of the best in the world so we are looking forward to seeing that!
Catch up on our Blog posts and FB to see where we have been.

Heading out today, we decided to make our way across the rest of Missouri and all the way through Illinois. A half hour in we began seeing signs for “Nostalgiaville”, which is a 50s & 60s memorabilia shop, and “Ozarkland”, a shop full of all kinds of goodies. Both looked interesting so we exited and stopped at Ozarkland first. The store was huge and full of every kind of souvenir you can imagine and plenty of local flavor. We spent around an hour walking around the place and picked up several things along the way. At the register, Jasmine heard a customer mention that Nostalgiaville had closed so we just jumped back onto the highway.
We ran into a lot of rain as we cruised along I70 through Missouri and into Illinois. We also had to stop a few times because Lady T was not happy with the heat and the several small hills we encountered. As we puttered on, we saw a sign for Casey, IL which claimed to be home to the largest wind chime, golf tee and rocking chair in the world. Since we hadn’t seen any roadside oddities in a while, we decided to have a look.
We followed sigs to the downtown area but we didn’t see the chime. We did find the golf course but it didn’t look easy to get into so we turned around. Oh, and the rocking chair didn’t exist save for two supports and a sign that read “Coming soon!” By this time, we were thinking Casey had created a nice scam to get you off the highway and into their downtown area.
Stopping at a local grocery store, I looked up the wind chime on my phone and located an address. We plugged that into the GPS and felt pretty stupid when we realized that we had passed the thing twice :/ Jasmine and I were both focused on the supports for the rocking chair on the opposite side of the road that we didn’t notice the gigantic wind chime directly across the street. We pulled over to take a few pictures and ring the chime. The café adjacent to the display had just closed but Jazz convinced the lady to open the door to sell her a couple of postcards ;o)
The rest of the day we just drove towards our home for the night, a Flying J Travel Center in Indianapolis, IN. We are thinking of making a detour from Indianapolis up to Lake Erie to explore for a day before the final leg of our return trip back to reality. DO we have time to go to PA to hang out on the lake or should we just continue our path home?
I guess you will have to continue to subscribe to find out 😉
