This is Frank. We met him last May at Sara’s Diner, a hoppin’ eatery on Presque Isle in Erie, PA. Frank is an all beef dog so he was happy that Jazz is vegan!

We slept in this morning then headed out to cruise the peninsula of Presque Isle. The state park has several beaches to explore and many people were out enjoying fishing, boating and the scenic bike trail.
We stopped one more time to walk the beach and look for more treasure. It was a little cooler and windy so we jumped back in Lady T and drove east towards home. Lady T was running better than she had in days so after a couple hundred miles we decided that we would just drive straight home unless something major caught our eye.
Unfortunately, Lady T became very unhappy just after we crossed the Massachusetts border so we had to stop at a rest area to let her cool off. We decided to rest as well and took a nap until about 2:30 AM. An hour and a half later, we parked Lady T in Devens and spent our first night away from her in 29 days.
Stay tuned for more videos, pictures and our final blog post for our Route 66 adventure!

We left Seville around 9 AM this morning and made our way towards Sara’s Campground and Presque Isle, PA. Jazz & I were looking forward to parking Lady T and relaxing a bit on beautiful Lake Erie before heading home.
The campground is nestled in the heart of Presque Isle and is adjacent to the state park. The property is split in half with a sandy beachside and a bay side with concrete lots. We had originally planned on the former but after reviewing the sites, we decided we would be more level on the bay side
After hooking up the rig and showering, we took a walk towards the beach. On the way, we stopped at Sara’s Diner for some fries and onion rings. The diner is decked out in retro 50’s style décor and was packed! Out front, there is also a somewhat disturbing hot dog statue that we couldn’t take our eyes off of. Take a look at the picture and see if you agree 😉
We also stopped at a small gift shop called Beach Zero. The owner was very nice and talked to us for a while about beach glass and luck stones, both of which are very popular in the area. Beach glass is actual glass that has been tumbled around in the water and washes up on shore. Clear glass is the most common color but she mentioned that blue, red and green glass can also wash up.
Luck stones are actually ear bones from the Freshwater Drum (Sheepshead Fish) and can be found on the shores of the great lakes. The stones have been used for many years as good luck charms by sailors and are marked with either a J or L shape, which is supposed to stand for joy and luck.
From the gift shop, we took a stroll in the state park and then walked over to the beach to see if we could find some beach glass of our own. After some digging, we found several small pieces of clear beach glass and a nugget of green. We then headed back to Lady T for a short nap before dinner.
After a tasty dinner, we walked over to the campground beach and waited for the spectacular sunset we had read so much about. While walking, Jasmine spotted a luck stone! Excited, we cleaned off the sand and confirmed the marking that the store owner had mentioned. Not three feet from where Jazz found the first stone she looked down and found another one…WOW!!
The horizon was pretty cloudy but the sunset was beautiful anyway. Afterwards, we stopped at Sara’s diner again and I got hot fudge sundae to enjoy while I started a small campfire before bedtime.
Our trip is almost over but keep checking the blog or FB as we will be adding videos and more photos after we get home.

Well, we made it through the first day… 572 miles from home to the Ohio border! We got on the highway at about 11:30 AM in Massachusetts and arrived at the Ohio Welcome Center parking lot at 1:00 am.
Stopping a couple times for gas and just to make sure Lady T was holding up, she is 20 years old you know! She did just fine, although we did have to stop and duct tape the bumper marker light back into place. It has been falling out since she came out of storage and last night we caught it flapping in the wind while looking in the mirror. And speaking of mirrors, the passenger side mirror still gets out of place when you hit a nice pot hole so we still have to think of a way to keep that stabilized.
We stopped at the Pennsylvania Welcome Center to have some dinner and get gas since online it said that it was a 24-hour facility. Surprise…no gas! We decided to just have some dinner and move along. We found a nice huge truck stop with the cheapest gas we saw all day so we filled it up and poked around the truck stop store at 11:30 pm. Picked up a cool little 12V map light so we can check out the maps while driving without turning on all the lights.
Just about an hour and a half to our home for the night in Ohio from that last truck stop. When we pulled in all we could see were big rigs and tractor trailers. We found a nice spot between a car carrier and a 53′ trailer and called it a night.
Route 90 is a long road and takes you all the way across the country, but what fun would it be not seeing anything besides the highway. Almost $40 in tolls just to get to the Ohio border. Once we get to Chicago we can get off the major highways and find The Mother Road.
Still about 470 miles from Chicago. We will visit the city and a friend for a little while then be on our way.
Here are some photos we took while driving. Nothing special, just having fun playing with the cameras.
